Entropy-Expansiveness and Domination for Surface Diffeomorphisms
Let f : M → M be a C-diffeomorphism, r ≥ 1, defined on a closed manifold M . We prove that if M is a surface and K ⊂ M is a compact invariant set such that TKM = E ⊕ F is a dominated splitting then f/K is entropy expansive. Moreover C generically in any dimension, isolated homoclinic classes H(p), p hyperbolic, are entropy expansive. Conversely, if there exists a C neighborhood U of a surface d...
متن کاملHomoclinic points of non-expansive automorphisms
We study homoclinic points of non-expansive automorphisms of compact abelian groups. Connections between the existence of non-trivial homoclinic points, expansiveness, entropy and adjoint automorphisms (in the sense of Einsiedler and Schmidt) are explored. Some implications for countable abelian group actions by automorphisms of compact abelian groups are also considered and it is shown that if...
متن کاملHomoclinic Group, Ie Group, and Expansive Algebraic Actions
We give algebraic characterizations for expansiveness of algebraic actions of countable groups. The notion of p-expansiveness is introduced for algebraic actions, and we show that for countable amenable groups, a finitely presented algebraic action is 1-expansive exactly when it has finite entropy. We also study the local entropy theory for actions of countable amenable groups on compact groups...
متن کاملHomoclinic Points of Algebraic Z–Actions
Let α be an action of Z by continuous automorphisms of a compact abelian group X. A point x in X is called homoclinic for α if αx→ 0X as ‖n‖ → ∞. We study the set ∆α(X) of homoclinic points for α, which is a subgroup of X. If α is expansive then ∆α(X) is at most countable. Our main results are that if α is expansive, then (1) ∆α(x) is nontrivial if and only if α has positive entropy and (2) ∆α(...

We study the set (X) of homoclinic points for , which is a subgroup of X. If is expansive then (X) is at most countable. Our main results are that if is expansive, then (1) (x) is nontrivial if and only if has positive entropy and (2) (X) is nontrivia...
